680 NEWS wine reviews – March 18–21, 2016

William Fèvre Espino Gan Cuvée 2013
William Fèvre is one of the pre-eminent producers of Chablis in Burgundy. The company was sold to the Champagne house Henriot in 1998. William Fèvre also owns a winery in Chile and one of their products is currently at Vintages outlets: William Fèvre Espino Gran Cuvée 2013. This is Chablis on steroids. Pale straw in colour with a lemony, toasty nose, it's dry, medium-bodied, fresh and lively on the palate with a crisp apple flavour and a lovely mouth feel. It costs $18.95. Serve it with grilled fish or chicken salad. That's William Fèvre Espino Gan Cuvée 2013 from Chile. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($18.95, Vintages #45146)

Falernia Reserva Syrah 2013
Falernia is a winery in the Elqui Valley in the north of Chile. They make an excellent Syrah that's currently at Vintages outlets. Falernia Reserva Syrah 2013 is dense purple in colour with a smoky, herbal, blackberry nose. The wine is full-bodied, fruity but dry and savoury with white pepper, herbal blackberry flavours. It costs $19.95 a bottle. Match it with pepper steak or winter casseroles. That's Falernia Reserva Syrah 2013 from Chile at Vintages. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($19.95, Vintages #208371)
