Château des Charmes Old Vines Riesling 2013
Château des Charmes in Niagara has a proud history when it comes to Riesling. Their oldest Riesling vineyard was planted in 1978. From this block they make their Old Vines Riesling. The 2013 vintage is very pale in colour with a lime tint; the nose shows characteristic citrus and petrol notes. The wine is off-dry with honeyed grapefruit flavours and good length. It costs $16.95 at Vintages outlets or at the winery. Match it withThai dishes or with pork and apple sauce. That's Château des Charmes Old Vines Riesling 2013 from Ontario. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($16.95, Vintages #277228)

Pierre Sparr Réserve Pinot Gris 2014
Amid the oceans of Pinot Grigio flowing through the LCBO, there is also Pinot Gris – same grape but usually given oak treatment. Alsace is renowned for its Pinot Gris and one of the best values from Alsace is Pierre Sparr Réserve Pinot Gris 2014. Selling at Vintages for $16.95, this wine is pale straw in colour with an earthy, peach aroma heightened by a floral grace note; it's medium-bodied, off-dry, with well-extracted peach and yellow apple flavours. Serve it withlightly curried chicken or Pad Thai. That's Pierre Sparr Réserve Pinot Gris 2014 from France at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($16.95, Vintages #983395)
