Cave Spring Gewurztraminer 2013
Occasionally Ontario makes as Gewurztraminer that measures up well to the Gewurz they make in Alsace. Just released at Vintages outlets in time for Canada Day is Cave Spring Gewurztraminer 2013. Light straw in colour the wine has that characteristic lychee and rose petal nose – flavours that replicate on the palate. It's dry and elegant with good length. It costs $17.95 a bottle at Vintages and it's an ideal partner to lightly curried dishes or Thai food. That's Cave Spring Gewurztraminer 2013 from Ontario. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($17.95, Vintages #302059 (89))

Kacaba Cabernet/Syrah 2013
Celebrate the Canada Day weekend with one of our local red wines: recently released at Vintages outlets is Kacaba Cabernet/ Syrah 2013 from Ontario. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah is dense purple in colour with a spicy cherry and plum nose lifted with herbal notes. It's medium-bodied and dry with cherry and redcurrant flavours finishing firmly with supple, ripe tannins. It costs $18.95 at Vintages and it works well with barbecued chicken or beef. That's Kacaba Cabernet/Syrah 2013 from the Niagara Peninsula. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($18.95, Vintages #317925 (88))
