Domaine Chatelain Pouilly-Fumé Les Vignes de St. Laurent 2014
I'm a great fan of Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, especially Pouilly-Fumé. Currently at the LCBO is the delicious Domaine Chatelain Pouilly-Fumé Les Vignes de St. Laurent 2014. Pale straw in colour, it has a grassy, green pepper, gooseberry and grapefruit nose; it's medium-bodied, dry, fresh and lively on the palate with elderberry and green fig flavours, beautifully balanced with great length. It costs $20.30 a bottle and makes a soulful marriage with grilled fish or seafood. That's Domaine Chatelain Pouilly-Fumé Les Vignes de St. Laurent 2014 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($20.30, LCBO #450692) (91)

Château Haut Philippon 2014
The white wines from Bordeaux tend to be overshadowed by the white wines from Burgundy but there are some exceptional values here – especially in the Entre Deux Mers region. Currently at Vintages is Château Haut Philippon 2014, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and a touch of Muscadelle. Straw coloured, it offers a bouquet of white peach and citrus rind with a suggestion of oak; it's medium-bodied, crisply dry, with grapefruit and gooseberry flavours and a light smoky note. It costs $14.95 at Vintages outlets. Serve it with chicken salad or fish. That's Château Haut Philippon 2014 from Bordeaux. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($14.95, Vintages #445171) (89)
