Trapiche Pure Black Malbec 2015 (Argentina)
$15.95 (LCBO #462861)
Unoaked Malbec. Deep purple colour; spicy, roasted plum nose; full-bodied, juicy, blackberry fruit with notes of blueberry and cranberry, finishing firmly. Well-made wine and good value. ****(88)
Food match: steak; lamb chops

Feudi San Pio Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2013 (Veneto)
$19.95 (Vintages #181446)
The ripasso method involves pouring the new Valpolicella wine over the lees of the Amarone production of the same year to give it more concentration. Dense purple in colour, this wine has a cedary, tobacco and cherry nose with spicy, toasty oak notes. It's medium- to full-bodied, dry with a rich cherry flavour and balancing acidity. ****½ (89)
Food match: pasta with meat sauce; fresh parmesan cheese

Mount Brown Estates Pinot Gris 2015 (New Zealand)
$18.95 (Vintages #466037)
This is a Pinot Gris with real flavour! Medium straw in colour with a minerally, peach and lemon zest nose; richly extracted peach and pear flavours; great length. ****½ (89)
Food match: chicken salad; mature Brie
