Momo Pinot Noir 2014
Just arrived at Vintages is a delicious Pinot Noir from Marlborough, New Zealand. It's Seresin Estate Momo Pinot Noir 2014. Ruby-coloured, the wine has an earthy-leathery nose of raspberries with a spicy oak note; it's medium-bodied, dry and fresh with a lively raspberry flavour and a firm tannic structure. Beautifully balanced, it costs $19.95. Serve it with duck breast or veal. That's Seresin Estate Momo Pinot Noir 2014 from New Zealand at Vintages outlets. Bodegas Faustino Martinez Faustino 1 Gran Reserva 2004
Christmas dinner is the time to splurge on wine, which is why today's recommendation is above my usual budget. The wine is Bodegas Faustino Martinez Faustino 1 Gran Reserva 2004 from Spain's Rioja region. This Tempranillo-based red is deep purple in colour, holding well for a 12-year-old wine. Cedary-sandalwood notes of oak mingle with strawberries and pencil lead notes on the nose. Medium-bodied and dry it's beautifully balanced with lively acidity and a firm structure. Just the job for turkey. It costs $34.95 at Vintages but it's well worth it. That's Bodegas Faustino Martinez Faustino 1 Gran Reserva 2004 from Spain. For Post City magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($34.95, Vintages #976662)
