Talus Pinot Grigio 2003 (California)

Talus varietals are well priced and competently made. This Pinot Grigio is pale straw in colour with a peach pit nose; medium-bodied with a peachy, bitter almond flavour, nicely balanced. ***˝
Food match: grilled scallops; chicken salad

Kendall-Jackson Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner's Reserve 2000 (California)
$24.95 (Vintages essential)
A mix of Napa and Sonoma fruit. Deep ruby-purple colour; a nose of redcurrant and blackcurrant overlaid with vanilla oak and cedar nuances; sweet blackcurrant, licorice and black olive flavours; richly extracted, medium to full-bodied, firm structure around the fruit with a supple tannic finish. ****
Food match: rack of lamb; duck breast

Jackson-Triggs Delaine Vineyard Riesling 2002 (Ontario)
$16.95 (from the winery1-888-589-4637 or Wine Rack stores)
The second vintage of this new vineyard. Pale straw colour; developing a youthful petrol, lime and grapefruit rind nose; medium-bodied, dry with a spicy lime and apricot flavour. Careful winemaking here. ****
