In anticipation of spring I'm recommending some inexpensive whites this week, all under $10, from Germany.

Badischer Winzerkeller Pinot Blanc Classic 2002 (Baden, Germany)
$9.95 (general list)
Medium straw colour; minerally, peach pit nose; medium-bodied, soft, marshmallow and peach flavour that dries out to a firm finish. Good value. ***½
Food match: roast chicken; grilled fish

Bötzingen Gewürztraminer Kabinett 2002 (Baden, Germany)
$9.95 (general list)
Medium straw colour; minerally, lychee; richly extracted, mouth-filling, off-dry, honey and rose petal; a little blousy and short but enough varietal character to make it worth the money. ***½
Food match: Thai dishes; light curries

Bend In The River 2002 (Germany)
$9.95
An entry-level German Riesling in the old style. Pale straw; spicy, sweet nose, easy drinking. Off-dry, medium-bodied, grapey flavour. ***
Food match: outdoor quaffer; spicy, pepper hors d'oeuvres
