Best of Ontario Wine

The Wine Council of Ontario presents the first annual "Best of Ontario
Wine," a Tasting for Media and Trade Professionals. Experience more
than 120 of Ontario's best VQA wines from over 35 Ontario wineries including
back vintages and award-winners presented by winemakers and principals.
A lot has changed in Ontario's wine country since the first commercial
winery began operation on Pelee Island in 1866. Today Ontario boasts three
Viticultural Areas: the Niagara Peninsula, Pelee Island, and Lake Erie
North Shore. These areas, which encompass over 15,000 acres (6000 hectares)
of vines, produce 90 percent of the grapes used in Canadian wine production.
Prince Edward County is an emerging wine region in Ontario, currently
with 400 acres of wine grapes in production. Ontario produces 44 million
litres of wine annually and for the past two years has been achieving

the very best Ontario VQA wines from back vintages to award winners and
meet the characters that create the wines.

Consumer Wine Tasting Event
6:30 to 9:30 pm
Celebrate with hundreds of Toronto wine lovers, experience first-hand
the best wines that Ontario has to offer and meet the award-winning winery
principals. Ticket prices are $60 before May 15th ($55 for Ontario Wine
Society members) and $65 thereafter.
