14th Annual TSO Fine Wine Festival and Auction

Lois McFarquhar, President of the Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee, and Suzie Gibbs, Fine Wine Festival Chair, are excited to announce the 14th Annual Toronto Symphony Orchestra Fine Wine Festival. This event has gained a reputation as one of the finest in North America. The Festival has raised an aggregate total of over $3.5 million, making this initiative our major annual fundraiser for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and its many outreach programs. The Festival is regarded as one of the premier events on the Toronto social calendar. Peter Oundjian, the new Music Director for the TSO (2004/2005 season), is expected to be in attendance.

The Fine Wine Festival will kick off with an evening of wine tasting on Friday, November 5th, 2004, starting at 6:00 p.m., at Crush Wine Bar and Restaurant at 455 King Street West in Toronto. Over 15 wineries will be presenting their wines to guests, who will also be invited to enjoy a generous array of delicious appetizers and listen to excellent live jazz music. Tickets are priced at $55.00.

The Fine Wine Charity Auction will start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6th, 2004 (venue in Toronto to be confirmed). For only $35.00, guests will receive the commemorative catalogue, complimentary lunch, and their bidding paddles. Christie's auction house is proud to announce that their highly regarded wine auction expert Duncan McEuen will be the special guest auctioneer. Rob Jull of Vinifera Wine Services will be appraising, consulting and lotting the wine. Urban Cellars will be responsible for the storage and handling of these fine wines. There are an estimated 200 lots of rare and unique wine to be auctioned off to a highly appreciative audience.

Now in its 82nd year, the Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee (TSVC) is a leading orchestra volunteer organization committed to furthering the excellence of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Volunteer members deliver its many fundraising, music education and awareness-building projects.

Tickets will be on sale as of September 1st through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.ca or call 416-870-8000. Tickets will also be available through the TSVC office by phone, 416-593-7769 ext. 358, or from a TSVC member.

For further information, please visit the website at www.finewinefestival.com, or contact the TSVC office at 416-593-7769, extension 358.
