Viña San Pedro Castillo de Molino Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2001 (Chile)
$13.45 (General release)
Deep ruby-purple colour; a nose of black olives, blackcurrant and cedar; medium to full-bodied, firmly structured with sweet blackberry and chocolate flavours dusted with soft tannins. Good value. ***½
Food match: BBQ lamb; ribs

Château des Charmes Chardonnay Paul Bosc Estate 1999 (Ontario)
$18.95 (at the winery, 905-262-4912, info@chateaudescharmes.com)
Drinking nicely now. Golden straw colour; mature, apple, caramel nose with an oaky note; full-bodied, spicy, well integrated oak with flavours of orange, apple and toast; powerful with a warm alcoholic finish. ****
Food match: roast chicken; veal with tuna sauce

Thirty Bench Mountainview Blush 2002 (Ontario)
$10.95 (at the winery, 905-563-1698, wine@thirtybench.com)
Ontario is not over-endowed with usual Blush wines, but this one is well made and a good entry-level wine. Pink with a bluish tint in colour; sweet raspberry, leafy nose; medium-bodied with a candied raspberry flavour – on the sweet side but with enough acidity to give it interest. ***½
Food match: ideal for spicy Thai, Mexican, Chinese and Indian dishes
