Top Picks from Vintages' June Release
Wither Hills Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2003 (New Zealand)
This Marlborough Sauvignon is as complex as they get. Pale straw colour
with a perfumed nose of passionfruit, leaves and green pepper; medium-bodied
with an elegant, crisp gooseberry flavour; well made with great length.
Marchesi Antinori Cervaro della Sala 2001 (Umbria)
A stunning blend of Chardonnay and Grechetto with just the right amount
of oak. Straw coloured with a mature nose of apple, toast and creamy oak;
rich and full-bodied with great harmony one of Italy's best white
Joseph Phelps Insignia 2001 (Napa Valley)
Expensive yes, but what a delicious wine! Dense purple-black in colour,
replete with dark chocolate and spice, minerals and crushed blackcurrants.
Still a baby, but what promise in its firm structure and great length.
Full-bodied, concentrated and sumptuous. *****
