Toronto Taste 2004
On Sunday, June 13th, at Heritage Court, the top chefs in Toronto will
be creating irresistible delicacies for guests at Toronto Taste, the annual
fundraiser for Second Harvest.
With menus ranging from Braised Tuscany Duck from Prego chef Stephen
Ricci to Truffled Quail Eggs Benedict on Toasted Brioche with Truffled
Hollandaise from On the Twenty chef Robert Fracchioni, the evening promises
to impress guests.
In addition to the fabulous food, there will be opportunity to appreciate
wine, beer and champagne to complement the cuisine. Highlights also include
a martini bar, a coffee bar, two raffles with prizes including two airline
tickets to Paris and a dream kitchen by Williams-Sonoma. The evening will
also include a silent auction, a wine auction and amazing musicians. Whether
you are a foodie, a wine buff or just inquisitive and like a fun evening
out, you are guaranteed to find something at this must-see event.
Second Harvest's Executive Director, Zoë Cormack Jones, says Toronto
Taste is the flagship fundraiser that brings the community together. "There
are thousands of people who depend on food from Second Harvest, and we,
in turn, depend on the generosity of our community the guests,
the chefs, the wineries and breweries, our volunteers, and our many donors
and sponsors to pull together the event. It's a wonderful evening
raising about half a million dollars for Second Harvest."
Mitchell Cohen, President of The Daniels Corporation, is very proud of
his company's nine-year involvement in Toronto Taste as the Presenting
Sponsor. "It is truly our pleasure to help Second Harvest provide
food for those who need it the most. We believe we have a responsibility
to lend a hand, and Second Harvest provides a tremendous opportunity for
us to make a difference."
Toronto Taste is a fundraiser for Second Harvest, a not-for-profit charity.
Every day, Second Harvest picks up donated, high-quality fresh food, which
would otherwise have gone to waste, and delivers that food to social service
programs in Metro Toronto. Second Harvest currently provides food for
about 12,000 meals a day to children in breakfast programs, seniors on
fixed incomes, women fleeing domestic abuse, psychiatric patients, homeless
people, and many others who have fallen on hard times.
Tickets for Toronto Taste are $175 and guests receive an income tax receipt
for $100. For tickets call 416-408-2594.
