Malivoire Old Vines Foch 2002 (Ontario)
$22 (from the winery 866-644-2244 toll-free; 905-563-9253 phone; order@malivoire.com)
A consistently well made wine vintage to vintage, unique to Ontario. Dense purple colour; smoky black cherry and blueberry nose with a hint of wet earth; creamy cherry flavour on the mid-palate with zippy acidity; medium to full-bodied with well integrated oak. ****
Food match: BBQ ribs; smoked turkey

Wyndham Estate Bin 333 Pinot Noir 2002 (South Eastern Australia)
$13.75 (General release)
Medium ruby colour; minty, raspberry nose; medium-bodied, candied raspberry flavour, with fresh acidity. You won't mistake this for Burgundy but it's well made and enjoyable. ***˝
Food match: Peking duck; pork loin

Mommessin Beaujolais 2002
$9.35 (General list)
Not the most vibrant Beaujolais on the shelf but with enough redcurrant and raspberry flavour to give it interest – especially at the price. A gulpable, light-bodied, fruity wine with lively acidity. Chill it and knock it back. Good value. ***˝
Food match: pizza, hamburgers
