Casa Silva Colleccion Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2001 (Chile)
$13.10 (general release)
Youthful purple colour, quite dense; smoky, tarry, cedar and blackberry nose; medium to full-bodied, the Cabernet dominates on the palate with blackcurrant and bitter chocolate flavours; fleshy and round with supple tannins. Good value. ****
Food match: lamb cutlets, fresh parmesan cheese

Angels Gate Riesling 2003 (Ontario)
$12.95 (available only at the winery – www.angelsgatewinery.com, phone 905-563-3942)
This is the best Riesling yet from this young winery. Very pale colour with a green tint; minerally-floral nose with citrus peel bouquet; light to medium-bodied, fresh and lively tangerine, grapefruit flavour with a crisp lime finish. Terrific job of winemaking here. Great value. ****
Food match: curried shrimps, smoked salmon

MezzoMondo Negroamaro Salento 2003 (Puglia, Italy)
$8.05 (general list)
This gutsy, rustic red from the heel of Italy is a real bargain at the price. Dense ruby colour with a nose of raisin, dates and earth; ripe, mouth-filling fruit, soft plum jam flavour; easy drinking. ***˝
Food match: BBQ burgers, spaghetti with meat sauce
