Tedeschi Capitel Nicalò 2015 (Veneto)
($17.95, Vintages #984997)
Dense purple in colour, this Corvina-based wine has an intense bouquet of blackberries and smoky vanilla oak. Full-bodied and dry, you experience richly extracted flavours of blackberry and blackcurrant with lively acidity and a firm tannic finish.

Domaine de la Renne Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2015 (Loire Valley)
($14.95, Vintages #489963)
Pale gold in colour, this wine comes on like a white Bordeaux. The nose is grassy, green plum with a light floral note. Medium-bodied and crisply dry, it offers flavours of lychee and green plum with a lemon-lime finish.
Food match: goat's cheese; fresh asparagus. ****½ (89)

Graffigna Pinot Grigio 2016 (Argentina)

Well well-priced wine for Pinot Grigio fans. Pale straw in colour with a minerally, peach pit nose; medium-bodied, dry, with flavours of white peach and lemony acidity.
