680 NEWS wine reviews – July 7–9, 2017

Bollini Pinot Grigio 2015
If you're on the Pinot Grigio bandwagon there's one you shouldn't miss – Bollini Pinot Grigio 2015 from Trentino in northern Italy. It's pale straw colour with that characteristic minerally, peach pit nose and a note of lemon peel; it's medium-bodied, dry with a flavour of white peaches carried on fresh lemony acidity. It costs $17.95 at Vintages outlets and it's selling so well they keep it in the fridge in my local LCBO store. A great summer sipper or match it with shellfish dishes. That's Bollini Pinot Grigio 2015 from Italy. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($17.95, Vintages #951319). (88.5)

Taylor Fladgate Fine White Port
If you think port is a winter drink you haven't tried white port, which comes to us at a bargain price. Taylor Fladgate Fine White Port, just released at Vintages outlets, is $15.95 a bottle. Deep amber in colour, it has a nutty nose of dried fruits with a spicy orange peel note, rich and full on the palate it has a creamy caramel and orange flavour. Chill it and serve it with mushroom soup or add some tonic and a wedge of orange over ice as a pre-prandial cocktail. That's Taylor Fladgate Fine White Port from Portugal's Douro Valley at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($15.95, Vintages #69856) (89)
