Bodega Garzon Tannat 2014
Tannat is a grape we usually associate with the black wines of Cahors in south-west France. But Uruguay is making waves with this tannic variety. Currently at Vintages is Bodega Garzon Tannat 2014 – dense purple black in colour, it has a cedary, blackberry nose with toasty oak notes; medium to full-bodied, it's has a dry, spicy blackberry-flavour buttressed with firm but ripe tannins. It costs $19.95 at Vintages outlets. Perfect for barbecued steak. That's Bodega Garzon Tannat 2014 from Uruguay. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($18.95, Vintages #497008) (90)

El Esteco Ciclos Torrontes 2016
El Esteco Ciclos Torrontes 2016 is one of those delicious wines that charms you from the first sniff. Torrontes from Argentina is very similar to the dry Muscats of Alsace. Very pale lime in colour, this wine has an intense bouquet of lavender and orange light-to-medium-bodied, it's dry and perfumed with lychee and melon flavours. It costs $16.95 at Vintages outlets and in addition to being a great pre-dinner drink, it can also match Mexican or Asian food. That's El Esteco Ciclos Torrontes 2016 from Argentina at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($16.95, Vintages #482976) (90)
