Te Awa Left Field Sauvignon Blanc 2016
From New Zealand's Nelson region, this splendid Sauvignon Blanc on the LCBO's general list: Te Awa Left Field Sauvignon Blanc 2016. Pale straw in colour with a green tint, it has a grassy, elderberry and green plum bouquet. Medium-bodied and crisply dry, it offers rich flavours of gooseberry and grapefruit with lively acidity. It costs $19.95 a bottle and is a great match with goat's cheese or asparagus. That's Te Awa Left Field Sauvignon Blanc 2016 from New Zealand at the LCBO. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($19.95, LCBO #487496) (89)

Rioja Bordon Gran Reserva Rioja 2007
If you're looking for a fine red wine for the weekend pick up a bottle of Rioja Bordon Gran Reserva Rioja 2007. I say "this weekend" because it's a limited time offer until Sunday at $3 off. It's usually $24.90. Dense purple-ruby in colour, it has a spicy, sandalwood nose of plum and cherry nose with a note of blackcurrants. Dry and medium-bodied and well structured, fleshy on the palate with plum and cherry flavours. Serve it with lamb or pork tenderloin. That's Rioja Bordon Gran Reserva Rioja 2007 from Spain, $21.90 at the LCBO. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($21.90, LCBO #428060) (91)
