680 NEWS wine reviews – September 22–24, 2017

Tocado Garnacha 2015
On of the best bargains at the LCBO at the moment is Tocado Garnacha from Campo de Borja in Spain. Deep ruby in colour, it has a spicy-cedary, black raspberry nose; medium-bodied and dry with a floral note, it's inky and fruity on the palate with a firm tannic finish. It costs $8.25 a bottle and most of the consigment can be found at the Queens Quay LCBO store. Serve it with barbecued burgers or spicy pizza. That's Tocado Garnacha 2015 from Spain. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($8.25, LCBO #489690) (88)

Torres Floralis Moscatel Oro
Today's wine recommendation is for the sweet-toothed. Torres Floralis Moscatel Oro from Spain. The unfermented juice from Muscat grapes is fortified with distilled wine to an alcohol strength of 15% by volume. Deep amber in colour, it has a spicy, aromatic nose of orange, honey and jasmine; it's medium to full-bodied, sweet, rich and succulent with a finish of sweet orange marmalade with a note of cloves. It costs $16.95 for a 500 mL bottle at Vintages outlets. Serve it with blue cheese or instead of dessert. That's Torres Floralis Moscatel Oro from Spain. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($16.95, Vintages #642173) (89)
