Origin Stellenbosch Drive Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
South Africa is producing some tasty Cabernet Sauvignon at wallet-friendly prices. Take Origin Stellenbosch Drive Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 for example. This blend of 60% Cabernet and 40% Merlot, currently at Vintages outlets, is dense purple-ruby in colour. It has a cedary, red and blackcurrant nose with an oaky note; medium-bodied and dry, it's firmly structured and well-balanced with blackcurrant and cherry flavours. It costs $15.95 a bottle and fairly cries out for lamb chops. That's Origin Stellenbosch Drive Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 from South Africa. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($15.95, Vintages #512707) (88.5)

Altivo Red 2015
My recommendation today is a table wine from Portugal's Dão region – a region we don't see much wine from. It's called Altivo Red 2015. At $12.95 a bottle it makes a great house wine. Dense purple in colour, it has a spicy nose of blackberries and pencil lead. Medium-bodied and dry, it's well-balanced, firmly structured with a lovely, velvety mouth-feel. It costs $12.95 a bottle at Vintages outlets. Match it with red meat dishes. That's Altivo Red 2015 for Portugal's Dão region, available at Vintages. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($12.95, Vintages #522292) (88)
