Goats Do Roam White 2016 (South Africa)
$11.95 (LCBO #237313)
Goats Do Roam is a punning label for Fairview winery in South Africa what uses only Rhone grape varieties. A blend of Viognier, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. Light straw in colour, it offers a minerally, peachy nose. It's medium to full-bodied, dry with peach and lemon flavour with a thread of minerality. Really good value. (88.5)
Food match: grilled fish; cold chicken

Cave Spring Estate Bottled Chardonnay Musqué 2015 (Ontario)
$16.95 (Vintages #246579)
Chardonnay Musqué is an aromatic clone of Chardonnay, a grape that Cave Spring Cellars in Niagara has made its own. Bright straw in colour with Muscat-like nose of ripe apples. Medium-bodied in weight, it's dry with apple and green melon flavours that finishes on a lemony note. (89)
Food match: Caesar salad; ripe Camembert

Altivo Red 2015 (Dão, Portugal)
$12.95 (Vintages #522292)
At the price it makes a great house wine. Dense purple in colour, it has a spicy nose of blackberries and pencil lead. Medium-bodied and dry, it's well-balanced, firmly structured with a lovely, velvety mouth-feel. (88)
Food match: red meat dishes
