Ex Nihilo Vineyards Announces Sealed Bid Auction in Support of the BC Fires Fund
Ex Nihilo Vineyards in the Okanagan Valley is having a sealed-bid auction of the Alex Fong original piece "Any Way the Wind Blows" to commemorate the July 2017 Okanagan Centre Fire.
The July 15th, 2017, fire was an experience that no one in the Community of Lake Country or at Ex Nihilo Vineyards will soon forget: feelings of apprehension mixed with celebration, sadness mixed with joy, loss intertwined with hope, destruction surrounded by nature. There was a beautiful vineyard setting with fantastic music performed by Barney Bentall, wine, food, friends... and nonstop water bombers, retardant planes, smoke, and black plumes which indicated the tragic loss of neighbouring homes and surroundings. Ex Nihilo felt compelled to help BC fire victims and to help build the BC Fires Fund to be ready for future events.
Art has always been prominent at Ex Nihilo: the winery was named after a sculpture and is now home to Creatio Gallery featuring local artists. Proprietors Decoa and Jeff Harder have long been admirers of Alex Fong's work, and felt that his style of art would best portray the yin and yang beauty and surreal feeling of the evening. The painting was unveiled at
Ex Nihilo's Harvest Dinner on Saturday, October 14th. 100% of the winning bid will go to the BC Fire Fund.
Sealed bids can be received in person at the winery until November 12, 2017. Ex Nihilo is open daily 10 am to 5 pm daily to view "Any Way the Wind Blows." Alternatively, to place a bid please call the winery at 250-766-5522 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
All proceeds will go to the BC Fires Fund of the Canadian Red Cross.
