  • D'Arenburg "The Stump Jump" Red 2002

Hillebrand Trius Riesling Dry 2003 (Niagara)
$13.95 (General list)
Very pale in colour; minerally, floral, sweet grapefruit nose; medium-bodied, ripe peachy-lemony flavour, mouth-filling and lush on the palate with a clean lime finish. Good value. ****
Food match: Thai dishes; pork with apple sauce

Château des Charmes Gewürztraminer 2003 (Niagara)
$19.95 (winery 905-262-5202, or through www.winerytohome.com)
A consistent winner for this winery. Medium straw colour; spicy floral, Muscat-like nose; medium-dry, light-bodied, with a spicy, cardamom and orange blossom flavour; nicely balanced, good varietal character. ****
Food match: lightly curried dishes; Munster cheese

D'Arenburg "The Stump Jump" Red 2002 (McLaren Vale, South Australia)
$13.95 (Vintages # 6062360)
This Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre blend is a steal at the price. If you heavily extracted wines this is for you. Ruby colour; a floral, blackberry nose with a medicinal note; medium-bodied, sweet, jammy blackberry fruit; forward and fruity; easy drinking with a firm finish. Great value. ****
Food match: spicy hamburgers; garlic ribs
