More Wines of the Week

  • Lindemans Bin 65 Chardonnay 2004
  • Lindeman's Bin 95 Sauvignon Blanc
  • Masi Campofiorin 2001

Three wines for the Christmas table.

Lindemans Bin 65 Chardonnay 2004 (Australia)
$10.45 (general list)
Yes, it's everyone's first choice for a white wine, but the price/quality ratio is excellent and this vintage tastes fresher and livelier than the last. Bright colour of pale straw; sweet apple nose with a hint of pine needles; soft on the palate, medium-bodied; easy drinking with a fresh finish. ***˝
Food match: roast turkey; camembert

Lindeman's Bin 95 Sauvignon Blanc (Australia)
$10.45 (general list)
If you're looking for a New World Sauvignon at a bargain price, go no further. Very pale colour with a fresh-cut-grass and herb nose; medium-bodied with a faint spritz on the tongue; dry, passionfruit and gooseberry flavour, fresh lively finish with a minty note in the finish. Good value. ****
Food match: goat's cheese salad; grilled scallops

Masi Campofiorin 2001 (Veneto)
$16.95 (general release)
This has always been a reliable red that makes a versatile wine for matching with a range of meat dishes and tomato sauce-based pastas. Medium ruby colour; a nose of dried cherries and chestnut; medium-bodied, firmly structured with a warm, dried fruit character, nicely balanced with good length. ****
Food match: roast turkey (dark meat); fresh parmesan
