  • Beringer Napa Valley Chardonnay 2001

Patriarche Pinot Noir 2001 (Pays d'Oc)
$9.95 (General list)
This old established Burgundy shipper has recently begun producing Pinot noir in the Languedoc, calling it by its varietal name (rather than geographic site) and offering it at a bargain price. Light in colour; spicy, earthy raspberry nose; recognizable varietal character with a dry finish and a note of cinnamon. Good value. ***˝
Food match: cold salmon; semi-hard cheese

Jacob's Creek Shiraz Cabernet 2002 (Australia)
$11.95 (General list)
Purple colour; a nose of red berries and pencil lead; medium-bodied with a raspberry-cranberry flavour and a touch of sweetness in the mid-palate. Nicely balanced. ***˝
Food match: BBQed ribs; hamburgers

Beringer Napa Valley Chardonnay 2001 (Napa, California)
$28 (General list)
This is what you expect from a Napa Chardonnay – a big, bold, full-bodied wine with oodles of flavour. Buttery-caramel nose with hints of toast and macadamia nut; rich and full on the palate with a long spicy toffee finish. ****˝
Food match: lobster with drawn butter; tuna steak
