  • Corten Merlot 2003
  • Caliterra Shiraz 2001

Koala Creek Shiraz 2002 (Australia)
$12.95 (General release)
Another Aussie Shiraz to knock back but a decent price/value ratio here. Deep ruby colour; minty, vanilla and blackberry nose; medium to full-bodied with a sweet, jammy plum and blackberry flavour; soft, ready and easy drinking. ***˝
Food match: BBQ ribs; pepper steak

Corten Merlot 2003 (Moldova)
$7.95 (General release)
This wine is a great bargain. Ruby coloured with a nose of blackberries, wet earth and a hint of oak; medium-bodied with sweet plummy fruit ending on a dark chocolate note; firmly structured, well made. This wine has got some heft. Great value. ***˝
Food match: burgers; pizza

Caliterra Shiraz 2001 (Chile)
$9.95 (General release)
Another bargain here. Dense purple colour with a bouquet of blackcurrants and smoke. Medium-bodied and more Cabernet Sauvignon in character than Shiraz but well made, good balance of fruit and acidity with a firm finish. ***˝
Food match: Smoked meat sandwiches; BBQ lamb chops
