  • Vineland Estates Chardonnay 2004
  • Vendange Shiraz Tetra 2003

Zonin Terre Palladiane Valpolicella 2003 (Veneto)
$10.95 (General list)
Light ruby colour; cherry pit nose; dry cherry flavour; light-bodied, firm structure with lively acidity. A simple wine but well made and a versatile food wine. Chillable if you want to serve with fish. ***½
Food match: pasta with tomato sauce; spaghetti vongole

Vineland Estates Chardonnay 2004 (Ontario)
$12.95 (from the winery, 1-888-VINELAND (846-3526), or visit 3620 Moyer Road, Vineland)
Straw colour; minerally, pear bouquet; medium-bodied, fresh pear and citrus flavours; nicely balanced. ***½
Food match: roast chicken, grilled tuna

Vendange Shiraz Tetra 2003 (California)
$6.96 for 500 mL (General list)
I never thought I would be recommending a wine that came in a cardboard box, but this one isn't at all bad. Just forget the instruction on the top to serve chilled. Deep purple colour; blackberry and white pepper nose; simple and fruity with a touch of sweetness but well balanced and easy drinking. The price is right. ***
Food match: hamburger; pizza
