Since it's Niagara Wine Festival time (see www.niagarawinefestival.com), I thought I would devote my recommendations this week to wines you can get from Ontario wineries.

Magnotta Vidal Icewine 2003

An affordable icewine.
Colour: deep amber
Nose: spicy, honey, cardamom
Taste: peachy-apricot, floral, sweet and honeyed; good length
Style: white, sweet, full-bodied

A classy dry white wine.
Colour: medium straw
Nose: dry, stoney, crab apples
Taste: crisp, Chablis-like, clean, orange, lemon and green apple flavours
Style: white, dry, medium-bodied

Henry of Pelham Gamay 2004

As near as you get to Beaujolais in Ontario.
Colour: light ruby
Nose: earthy, cherry pit
