Finca Eugenio Bustos Amancay Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 (Argentina)
$9.95 (General list)
A new vintage of this bargain-priced Cab. Deep ruby colour; cedar and chocolate on the nose; hits the palate with a rich, sweet red berry flavour, good acidity and a mocha finish. ***½
Food match: lamb burgers; cheddar

De Bortoli Willowglen Shiraz 2004 (Riverina, Australia)
$14.95 (Consignment warehouse from Abcon, 416-766-8235, www.abconwine.com)
A very tasty Shiraz at a very good price. Deep ruby colour; spicy, cedar and blackberry nose; richly extracted, full-bodied, sweet and jammy, easy drinking with soft tannins. ****½
Food match: pepper steak; venison

Paracombe Sauvignon Blanc 2005 (Adelaide Hills, Australia)
$24.95 (Consignment warehouse from Abcon, 416-766-8235, www.abconwine.com)
Costly, yes, but quite simply the best Sauvignon Blanc I have tasted from Australia. Pale straw colour; fresh, gooseberry and nettle leaf nose; medium-bodied, crisp and elegant with lovely gooseberry, passionfruit and citrus flavours that last on the palate. *****
Food match: grilled salmon; crab cakes
